Acclaimed bluegrass husband and wife duo Kenny and Amanda Smith will release their moving new single “Tears Of The Cherokee” this Friday, offering listeners a heartfelt and thought provoking glimpse into their forthcoming album Whole World Round, set for release in July.

Written by Dave Summers, “Tears Of The Cherokee” was inspired by the thought of an ancient Cherokee looking into the future and witnessing the destruction, dead trees, and heartbreaking condition of their once majestic Appalachian mountain homeland. The song reflects the deep sorrow and unimaginable heartbreak they would feel seeing the land they loved forever changed.

For Kenny and Amanda, the song carries a deeply personal meaning. Kenny’s grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian, making the message and emotion behind the song especially close to their hearts.

Known for combining heartfelt storytelling with world class musicianship, Kenny and Amanda Smith have become one of the most respected duos in bluegrass music since forming their band in 2001. Their career has been marked by numerous accolades and industry recognition, including winning the 2003 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year award.
